For many Bangladeshi professionals, DAAD EPOS is the most relevant funded route: it supports selected development-related postgraduate courses in Germany, generally for graduates from eligible countries with at least two years of professional experience. Application is usually made directly to the selected course.
Start with the exact DAAD programme
“DAAD scholarship” is an umbrella phrase, not one application. This guide focuses on Development-Related Postgraduate Courses (EPOS), a prominent route for professionals from developing and newly industrialised countries. Only courses in the current EPOS list are covered under this programme.
| Study level | Selected postgraduate or master’s courses; exceptional doctoral routes may appear under the official programme description. |
|---|---|
| Duration | Official EPOS information states 12 to 42 months depending on the programme. |
| Application route | Apply directly to the selected postgraduate course; nominated candidates are later asked to upload documents to the DAAD portal. |
| Deadline | Course-specific. Use the current 2027/28 list rather than a generic date from social media. |
What EPOS currently funds
The current official database lists a monthly payment of €992 for graduates and €1,400 for doctoral candidates from February 2026, along with payments toward health, accident and personal liability insurance and a travel allowance where another source does not cover it. Under certain conditions, rent and accompanying-family allowances may also be available.
Amounts and conditions can change. Treat the current official scholarship database and eventual award letter as controlling documents.
Core eligibility and selection signals
The official EPOS call describes applicants as graduates from eligible countries with at least two years of professional experience. It also emphasises an appropriate bachelor’s degree, above-average academic results, relevant language ability and development-related motivation.
Each university can add admission requirements. Passing DAAD-level criteria does not automatically satisfy the degree programme.
The EPOS application sequence
Choose from the official course list
Compare subject fit, admission requirements, language, intake and the course’s own deadline.
Apply to the postgraduate course
Follow that course’s submission channel and document order. DAAD states that applications go directly to the relevant programmes.
Course selection committee reviews
The programme proposes potential candidates for the DAAD scholarship.
Complete the DAAD portal stage
Nominated candidates are contacted to upload the complete application. Keep a clean PDF copy of every submitted document.
Prepare the evidence package
Exact requirements depend on the course. The official EPOS material includes items such as application forms, CV, motivation, academic records, language proof, professional-experience evidence and a current employer recommendation. Verify the current course checklist.
Frequently asked questions
Can a fresh graduate apply to EPOS?
The current EPOS description requires at least two years of professional experience. A fresh graduate should search the wider DAAD database for other programmes rather than assume EPOS eligibility.
Is there one DAAD deadline for Bangladesh?
No. EPOS deadlines are attached to individual courses. Use the official current course list.
Can I apply to more than one EPOS course?
Follow the current programme rule and course instructions on application limits and priority order. Do not rely on an old cycle’s limit.
