Chevening is a leadership scholarship
Chevening is the UK Government’s international scholarship programme, funded by the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and partner organisations. It supports a one-year master’s degree and looks for applicants with a clear, realistic plan to drive impact in their home country.

What the award is designed to cover
Chevening describes its scholarships as fully funded. Current official materials describe tuition, economy travel, arrival and departure allowances, visa cost, a monthly living allowance and certain other approved contributions. The final award letter and current terms determine the exact package.
Applicants should still plan for timing differences, personal expenses and any course-specific fee condition disclosed by Chevening.
Eligibility must be checked before storytelling
The official eligibility page contains further conditions. Check it line by line before investing in essays.
Build the application around evidence
Leadership and influence
Choose decisions where you moved people or resources toward a result. Explain the obstacle, your action and measurable outcome.
Relationship building
Show how you built and maintained a purposeful professional relationship, not simply that you attended events.
Course and UK fit
Research eligible courses and connect modules, teaching or networks to a capability you need.
Career and home-country impact
Present a credible sequence: immediate role, medium-term contribution and longer-term goal, with a defined need in Bangladesh.
Keep the same facts consistent across essays, CV, work history, references and interview.
The published 2027–28 timeline
Chevening’s current timeline shows applications opened in August 2026 and closed in October 2026, followed by eligibility sifting and reading-committee assessment. Shortlisting is expected from mid-February 2027, interviews during March and April, results from mid-June, and an unconditional-offer deadline of 8 July 2027 for successful interviewees. Country status controls whether an application can still be submitted.
Frequently asked questions
Does internship or volunteer experience count?
Chevening currently lists full-time work, part-time work, voluntary work and paid or unpaid internships as potentially eligible. The hours must meet the current post-graduation and minimum-duration rules.
Do I need an unconditional offer at application time?
The current timeline places the unconditional-offer deadline later for successful interviewees. You still need a researched course strategy and must follow the current application guidance.
Can Chevening guarantee admission?
No. Scholarship selection and university admission are separate processes, and the applicant must meet both.
